The fret ends were shaped, the back of the neck was smoothed and polished. Then the entire neck was buffed to a fine finish. The pots are CTS 250K, Switchcraft 5-way switch. Next the guitar parts were inspected before they were reassembled. Each guitar is assembled to the factory specifications with special attention to the setup of the action for maximum playability. It's with a heavy heart that I present for you my fantastic Jaguar Classic Player Special, in Three Colour Sunburst. This is the model released a couple of years ago which replaces the floating tremolo system with a more reliable tune-o-matic bridge, meaning that the guitar stays in tune much better when using the tremolo arm. A quick search on the web shows the fantastic reviews the guitar has received, as well as its rich, influential heritage, being instrument of choice for the Beach Boys to Sonic Youth, and the Ventures to Nirvana. As such, it's a very versatile guitar - perfect for clean sounds like surf and blues sounds, as well as ideal for feeding through a load of reverb and fuzz pedals for shoegaze, powerpop, drone, grunge, garage etc. I bought the guitar brand new and I've used it for bedroom noodling/recording. It hasn't been hauled in and out of vans/gig venues hundreds of times or thrashed around with, and is in perfect working order. It's been much taken care of, kept clean, and stored either in a hard case or on a stand in non-damp conditions. There's a small ding about 5mm across on the top of the body; a couple of photos show it close up, and another shows it in relation to the rest of the guitar. There's also a couple of small dents, 3mm across, on the left hand side of the body, pictured. All easily repairable, and in no way deterimental to the sound/play of the guitar. Tremolo arm included. Reason for sale: Since starting a new job I don't really have time to play much anymore, and it seems a shame to let the guitar go to waste. 1982 Rickenbacker Tuxedo. The Tuxedo is a very rare 360 Ricky. The guitar was originally white and through the years has mellowed to a nice cream colour. It is number 15 of 30 as verified by the Rickenbacker company. Serial number J0 7819. There are many versions of white Rickenbackers but only the genuine Tuxedo has a white fret board with small black dots. The guitar is in super condition with no major dings or bangs. The paintwork has the usual lacquer cracks customary at the time and as befits a 30 year old guitar. The action on the guitar is incredibly low (as shown in the pictures - 2mm at the 12th) making it superb to play. The sound reproduction from the guitar is second to none. The item comes with a richly lined Rickenbacker case. It would be incredibly difficult to find another and in such magnificent condition. Neck is date stamped Sept 1966. The guitar is in very good condition for a 45 year old guitar, with lovely lacquer checking to the headstock and only minor scratches and nicks to the body. The pickguard has obtained that lovely mottled finish that the cellulose does at this age. There is a possibility that the guitar body has been refinished at some stage. The guy I bought it from had owned it for almost 20 years (and he never had it refinished) so if it is a re-finish it was done a long time ago. I don't want to try to con anybody and I'm not an expert on vintage Jag's - I think this is the original colour. The original mute and trem arm are included and are in very good condition . The case in non original but probably dates from the early seventies. Great playing and sounding Jag with tons of mojo - I have priced this guitar to sell quickly so grab a bargain! This is a Gibson Les Paul Studio, Black in color and comes with a OHSC. I love the gold hardware on this! This was a show room model that I purchased and has been sitting on my shelf since. So technically it's new with some wear. It has a couple very light scratches on the front and rear and on the pick guard. The arrival of the Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar in 1983 offered guitarists all the essential elements of a Les Paul Standard, including a carved top and humbucking pickups. Its simple yet elegant design quickly helped it become the most popular model in the Les Paul Series. Cutting-yet-rich tone—the hallmark of the Les Paul—pours out of the 490R and 498T Alnico II magnet humbucker pickups (BurstBucker Pro on faded models), which are mounted on a carved maple top with a mahogany back. The Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case (Faded and satin finish models come with a gig bag) and a limited lifetime warranty. Body and Finish A solid, carved maple top and chambered mahogany body give the Les Paul Studio the same tonewood combination that has been helping Les Paul Standards rock for nearly 60 years. And each of its four available nitrocellulose finishes makes for a stunning looking guitar, even while its no-frills approach eliminates body binding and pickguard. Mahogany is a medium-dense wood with excellent resonance and superior sustain, and it offers a rich, round, warm tone, but with plenty of high-end sheen and good mid-range presence. Add a solid maple top, and the guitar's tone is enhanced with added clarity, sustain and definition. The body's chambering also enhances its mellow acoustic resonance, and adds further air to the midrange content. Pickups Gibson's 498T and 490R pickups ("T" for treble, and "R" for rhythm) have the traditional characteristics of the original "Patent Applied For" pickups of the late 1950s, with a few upgrades. These pickups take advantage of wax potting, which does away with any air space inside the pickup, therefore lessening the chances of microphonic feedback. The result is a humbucker with the tonal characteristics of an original PAF, with a slight increase in upper mid-range response. The Gibson 498T bridge pickup is the 490R's ideal complement. Taking the 490R one step further, the 498T is wound a little hotter and also swaps the Alnico II magnet for an Alnico V, giving it more punch and greater emphasis on midrange and highs. The 490R/498T is one of the most versatile humbucking pickup sets available. In the neck position, the former yields juicy, warm vocal tones with outstanding clarity, while the latter in the bridge position excels at everything from bright jangle through a clean amp to wailing overdrive with near-infinite sustain through a high-gain amp. Selected together, the pair gives you everything from funky to greasy, depending upon amp and effects settings. Description for Gibson Firebird V Electric Guitar (with Case) There is no mistaking a Gibson Firebird V--with its unique "reversed" zig-zag body design and equally distinct headstock, it is simply one of the most recognizable of all guitar profiles. First introduced in 1963, the Gibson Firebird was the brainchild of legendary automotive designer and visionary Ray Dietrich (Lincoln, Packard), enlisted by Gibson to bolster the guitar lines of the early '60s and help solidify the company's eminent rank among solidbody electric guitar manufacturers. Dietrich's unconventional design was based loosely on both the legendary automobile tailfins of the 1950s and the Gibson Explorer, which had been introduced several years earlier. The Gibson Firebird V's Angled Headstock The Gibson Firebird V's distinct headstock stays true to Gibson's industry-changing way of thinking. Like every Gibson headstock, the angled Firebird headstock is carved out of the same piece of mahogany as the neck. The angle is carefully set to 14 degrees--instead of the traditional 17 degrees--to accommodate the headstock's radical contour and to keep pressure on the strings. The headstock's form insures straight string pull, which, when combined with the increased string pressure, means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners, equaling better sustain. Banjo-styled tuners provide the Gibson Firebird V with the necessary clearance between tuner buttons, allowing for comfortable access and uncomplicated tuning. This process takes craftsmanship, time, and effort, but the rewards are certainly worth the effort. The Gibson Firebird V Neck Profile No guitar neck profiles are more distinguishable than the neck profiles employed on the Gibson models of today. The more traditional '50s neck profile is the thicker, more rounded contour, emulating the neck shapes of Gibson's iconic models of the late 1950s. The '60s neck profile is considered the more modern, slim-tapered contour most commonly associated with the Gibson models of the early 1960s. The neck on Gibson's Firebird V has the best of both worlds--it is a hybrid between the '50s rounded contour and the '60s slim-taper profile. As with all Gibson necks, it is machined in Gibson's rough mill using wood shapers to make the initial cuts. Once the fingerboard gets glued on, the rest--including the final sanding--is done by hand. That means there are no two Gibson Firebird V necks with the exact same dimensions. The mini humbucker was first made available in several Gibson-made Epiphone models of the late 1960s, and the Les Paul Deluxe in the early 1970s. Today, it is best known as the pickup in the Gibson Firebird, and is a vintage replica of the original mini humbucker with bar Alnico II magnets. Neck-Through-Body Construction and Solid Mahogany Body On the Gibson Firebird V The Firebird V's multiple-wood-ply construction is as structurally and aesthetically innovative as any Gibson feature. The neck and center piece of the body are constructed from solid mahogany, as are the two wings that are glued on to each side to form the Firebird's distinct outline. Gluing all the pieces together insures maximum 'wood-to-wood' contact, and allows the neck and body to function as a single unit. The regimen involved in selecting the Firebird V's wood and the formula to dry it out is closely controlled. First, the wood is personally inspected and qualified by Gibson's team of skilled wood experts before it enters the factories. These onsite inspectors also insure that the plain maple comes from corporations adhering to the forest-saving standards of the Rainforest Alliance, of which Gibson is a proud member and sponsor. I don't know about you, but this is the kind of vintage Gibson that makes me want a weekly late night Blues gig somewhere nasty. It oozes with so much soul you can't help but want to play it until the sun comes up. Anyway, the reality is that the tone is super heavy with this guitar. The neck pickup is thick, warm and barks like a caged dog. The neck pickup is a bit understated comparatively but has a great tone, perfect for stinging audiences through your favorite tube amp. The neck is straight, the intonation is dialed in and the action is set on the low side of medium / low. While this axe might long to play nasty Blues late at night it really is terrific for a lot of styles - Blues, Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Indie-Folk-Rock etc. You can cover a lot of ground with this vintage hollow body. Item Details This vintage 1967 Gibson ES-330 TD ( TD= Thinline, Dual Pickup ) is the fully hollow cousin of Gibson's ES-335. Finished in classic sunburst, this monster's body is made of all maple and features some very nice looking faded cream colored binding. This vintage beauty comes stock with Gibson dog ear P90's but this guitar has been modified with a pair of Seymour Duncan mini humbuckers that sound great and eliminate the white noise and nearly constant feedback associated with those pickups. The tuners have been changed out a bit over the years to housing a set of vintage Grovers, 2 machines having mismatched colored buttons ( see photos ). The mahogany neck has a slim 60's profile, rosewood fretboard with binding and small block inlays. This beautiful vintage hollow body weighs in at only 6.04 pounds and comes with an older vintage style hard shell case that's in good condition. Overall Condition This 1967 Gibson ES-330 TD is in very good / excellent condition. This guitar plays and sounds excellent. The body shows some typical and light finish checking from its age. There is the occasional rough spot or ding to the body but nothing scary looking. There is some light buckle scratching to the finish on the back. The frets are in excellent condition. This vintage Gibson ES-330 TD seems like a guitar that has been well played over the years and well looked after. It's not a museum piece, it's a guitar that's been played by players that know how to be nice to a guitar. The tone and feel are wonderful and will make a great addition to any collection, especially one looking to fill a slot for a 60's hollow body! This guitar has light playwear with some very faint clear coat scratches on the top and back. There's also a small indent on the side - see pic's. It has the original Gibson pickups- covers removed- and a non-chambered body. All the electronics work perfectly. The neck is straight and the frets are in excellent condition. On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a pretty solid 9+ out of 10. The finish is glossy and clean and there's no funky odors. It has just been detailed. The front, back, sides and neck were waxed and buffed with a high grade carnuba wax. The fingerboard was cleaned, buffed and moisturized with an instrument grade lemon oil. It was set up with 10/46's, adjusted and plays very nicely. All the electronics work well. Comes with the original Gibson hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity. Made in 1995 when PRS still used mainly hand crafting to build their instruments and were able to use better material before they hit a TOne Wood Shortage. The neck heel is smaller than current models allowing for easier access to higher frets and provides a stronger neck, PRS do not use it anymore as it is too difficult/costly to make. The guitar has the usual dings you would expect from a guitar of its age, I have tried to show the guitar in the truest light in the photos (Two most notable would be the crack in the varnish on the reverse of the headstock and the small dent by the tone-pot). Very rare ltd edition Gibson SG Z Teal green Gator hard case Inc. Serial number - 91758374 The Gibson SG Z was made limited edition in 1998, and its really hard to get a hold of now adays. It has 24 frets leading to a solid top. The body is mahogony (I believe) and it has a 3 way selector toggle Switch, 1 volume and one tone nob. It has a Gibson 496 (single coil) in the neck, and a Gibson 500T in the bridge. The finish is metallic teal, it looks grey under some light and blue under some. Its SG style body has a String through body and a tune-o-matic bridge black hardware, grover tuners (keeps it well in tune, very precise), rosewood fretboard with white binding on each side of the neck. There are a few dings that i have taken pictures of but nothing to worry about just cosmetic, apart from that the guitar is near mint! its been well looked after over the years by myself and has had a professional set up no fret wear! Ive decided to put up for sale my made in Japan, Jackson Professional King V Std with Jackson fitted hardcase. A bit of history... I bought this guitar new in around 1994/95 from memory and paid around £800. I kept it for about 4or5 years, then sold it to the other guitarist in the band i was playing in at the time. He gigged it for probably 2years after that and then i lost track of it as the band split. It changed hands a couple of times and ended up with my old vocalist from the same band, who i acquired it from about 8months ago as he stopped playing. The guitar had been well used over the years, and was a bit of a mess when i got it back, so ive treated it as a bit of a project and labour of love. Ive had the heavy dings sorted, replaced the trem saddles/blocks, 3way switch, input jack and surround plate, volume knob, locking nut and replaced the bridge pickup with a Bill Lawrence L500XL, as well as having the frets stoned and dressed by a local luthier. Important details, for those that want them are.... Model: (MIJ) Jackson Professional King V Standard Body: Poplar Neck: Eastern Maple, Bolt on. Fingerboard: Rosewood with dot markers. Scale: 25.5inch - 22frets Bridge: JT580 Double Locking Controls: Volume, 3 Way Toggle switch Electronics: Passive Bridge Pick up: Bill Lawrence l500XL Neck Pick up: Jackson J50N Nut width: 1 11/16ths Thickness: 1st fret 19mm / 12th fret 21mm I currently have the guitar setup with the trem blocked off, as im not a big fan of floating/Floyd Rose trems these days....or any trems for that matter, but is non permanent and easily reversible if you'd rather set the guitar up with it floating. The guitar is used, and as such has a few dings, marks and scratches, the worst of which is a crack in the paint on the back of the guitar. This is just in the paint and not the wood/body of the guitar...no idea how its occurred, and does not effect the playability of the guitar at all....ive taken pictures of the crack in the paint and the trem cavity to show that it is just in the surface (PLEASE SEE PICS BELOW). The volume control pot shaft also has a very very slight bend, meaning it turns just slightly off centre, but still works perfectly...its barely noticeable but mentioned for accuracy. Please note, that i have taken off my locking strap buttons pictured, and replaced them with standard genuine Jackson strap buttons since the pics were taken. The case has done its job over the years and shows signs of wear, with all 4 foot studs knocked off (common with these cases), and the usual restraining bands to hold the lid open have come unstuck, so the case opens right up. Its still a very good case and protects the guitar superbly. Ive tried to show the overall condition of the guitar in the pics below as accurately as possible. This is a Fender Custom Shop Time Machine Relic Stratocaster, from 2005. It has a light-weight two-piece Alder body, a soft-V '56 profile maple neck with vintage-size frets, a two-tone sunburst 'thinskin' lacquer finish, and Custom Shop pickups - aged to look and feel like a genuine 50-year old vintage Strat. This one has been little used from new and is exactly as it left the Custom Shop save for a light, pro set up - it really didn’t need much, the nut was cut and it has been set up with 9s. The fretwork is superb. The guitar came as a medium relic rather than a heavy relic. There is a really attractive crazing to the lacquer finish which does not really show in the pictures.
