Gibson ES 335 Highly figured, Cherry Red. Not a mark or blemish, bought by myself at the Gibson works in Memphis in November 2006 and imported. ( All duty, taxes etc cleared at the time ) Hardly been out of the case and never played in earnest. An absolutely pristine example of this iconic guitar. The figuring is excellent although a bit hard to do it justice in the photos. I took the guitar for appraisal and checking to my local guitar guy who confirmed its quality and condition. If required he will vouch for the guitar to any serious bidders. Although 5 years old this guitar is new as I think the photos show. For sale is a 1957 reissue (1999 manufacture) Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster (and it's breaking my heart to list this). This guitar was the center piece of my collection, but alas I must sell it to help with the down payment for my house (houses are not cheap in southern California). Chances are that if you're reading this page you know what this guitar is all about, but just in case you don't...this is a hollowbody archtop classic Gibson...the same model made famous by Steve Howe of Yes on the Fraglie album. It features an excellent sunburst with a good flame to it. Rosewood fretboard with block inlays, 5 ply binding on the neck. 57 model humbuckers with volume & tone for each and the famous 1-2-3-ALL switch. This one is in all original condition (came with the Grover tuners). and comes in its original Gibson case. This guitar was purchased from MARS Music in Birmingham, Alabama back in 2001. It has never been gigged, and has been kept in storage in my dad's house until recently, and just had a professional cleaning at set-up by the luthiers in my hometown. Thank you for looking. Up for auction is my beautiful 1961 Gibson ES 335 Serial # 3613o. The guitar is in absolute superb condition, with only 2 little dings and no scratches. The finish is still vibrant and the guitar is a lightweight at 7.8lbs. It was bought in 1961 by professional guitar player Stuart Mitnik as you can see on the original receipt which is still in the case. He had it outfitted with an Epiphone-style Mastro Vibrola (His name is on it, if you look closer), but now it is outfitted with an early sixties Stop-Tailpiece. The original Vibrola Unit and Custom Made plaque with the original screws are includet. It is one of the very last A series serial numbers (17 before the last one issued: A-36147) and it also carries an early impressed number on the back of the headstock, making it likely from February of 1961.The guitar was sold in April 61. Andre Duchossoir has documented ES-335 #A36127 as also having two such numbers in his definative work, Gibson Electrics--The Classic Years. At one time the guitar had Schaller tuners, but now the original tuners are back on. (Looks like one of the tips was replaced) The PAF pickups sound terrific, everybody who plays the 335 is stunned and can't put it down. The Brazilian Rosewood fretboard has no divots and is in perfect condition, as are the frets. Stuart Mitnick used this guitar only in the studio and not on the road. That's the reason, the 335 is still in that beautiful condition. The neck has a nice c-shape and is not too big, just perfect. It comes with it's original Lifton case in good condition. All the latches work. This is the perfect find for ES335 lovers. Please as all the question you have before you bid. This is a no reserve auction. If you have been holding off until the best 333 comes up wait no longer. If you've been looking for a 335 then save yourself some hard earned spondooliks and get this. For those of you not familiar with the 333, Gibson made these for 2 years only between 2002/2003 before they realised people were buying these instead of 335s because they are basically the same guitar without some of the fancy finish and they look better for it. When they realised this they immediately stopped making them because they were losing sales on the 335. Better still they have a back plate on the reverse which means you can get access to the pickups and pots very easily if you want to mod or fix something. You need to be a surgeon to try that on a 335. The body, neck and headstock are exactly the same as the 335 with the run through maple block. It's the same guitar. There were only 4 finishes - this rarer vintage looking sunburst, a not very convincing cherryish red, a natural and a not very good looking brown. The sunburst is definitely the best. All were satin whereas the 335 is gloss but the satin gives it an instantly vintage and lived in look and because its totally nitrocellulose also allows it to resonate more. It has dot markers which are much more vintage and tasteful rather than the overpowering 335 blocks and the Gibson silkscreen logo is like the old vintage logo and not inlaid. The 333 had no pickguard and black modern speed dial knobs which looked totally out of place. The pickups were 490R/498T which sounded fine but which just didn't look right on the guitar. I've put on a 335 pickguard, changed the knobs to gold top hatty speed dials and swapped the pickups to Gibson 57 classics. Also the tuners have been changed to locking tulip Kluson deluxe. Best of all I've changed the bridge and stop bar to Tonepros which just make the thing ring and sustain brilliantly. Basically I've made this into the closest you'll get to a modern 335 - but with a vintage feel. Its 10 years old so the wood has really livened up and its beginning to get that open sound that you can't get on a new guitar. The binding has mellowed and aged beautifully. The frets are in great condition and there are no grooves or flat spots. There are a small number of dings which I've shown clearly in the pics. They could easily be covered up but I haven't bothered because after the first ding you can relax with your guitar and take it out for the night - keep it perfect and you're scared to use it. It comes with a plush lined hard case and I'll wrap it up well. I'm selling it because I've recently admitted to myself that I'm really a Fender guy and I'm just not playing it as much as I should and it needs a good home where it will get more attention. So there you have it - if you know about 333s this is the one.

2008 Gibson ES-339 Caramel Burst I bought this about a year ago in a nearly new condition in which it has stayed but now i need to raise some money so i have to let it go. The guitar is almost mint apart from a tiny cm long dent on the top behind the soundhole but it barely noticeable. The frets have no visible wear and there are no other issues anywhere. It could probably do with a set up. It is currently set up for 9s. It comes with the original Gibson Custom case with the key, truss rod tool, documentation, warranty card etc. everything that was included except i have misplaced the bag with plectrums and cleaning cloth in. The case, when in transit to me, suffered an indented metal 'knob'. I'm not sure what you'd actually call this but one of the things that contacts the ground when stood on its side. It doesn't affect the inside of the case though. ES339 which I bought just after Xmas. I have only played it for about 4 hours and its still feels not ven close to be played in. The case has never left the house and is immaculate too. Its got some serious power. It was bought from Andertons at a price of £1599. Pls see their insert below. I prefer this 339 to the larger 335, I notice no difference in feel and sound, but do notice the size reduction as it fits perfectly on your knee or Im sure in a strap which it has never had on. The action isnt the lowest it could go, but its the way it wwas set up when I purchased it, which works fine for me. Vintage 1959 Gibson ES-125T w/OSSC!Magic Guitar That Rings Like Bell!Here's a real good one, folks. A 1959 Gibson ES-125T that is completely original and includes the original faux alligator skin chipboard case and the guitar's original hangtags. Better yet, it plays like a dream and sounds heavenly. The sunburst nitrocellulose finish is checked all over, but my camera flash really makes it look dramatic. Long vertical checking on top and back, horizontal checking on the back of the neck, and crazy lines on the headstock. Very cool. Other than the checking the back of the neck is in amazing condition, and besides a little fret wear on the treble side of the first few, the original wide meaty frets are in great shape. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is also in superb condition. All body bindings are tight and have mellowed to a buttery cream color. A chip on the back of the headstock is very shallow and worn smooth, by far the worst blemish on this axe. Just small nicks and dings here and there, none that will catch your eye or detract from the beauty of this Gibson. The nickel-plated tailpiece and Kluson Deluve tuners are solid and oxdation-free. Some oxidation on the pickguard hardware is typical. This tortoiseshell 'guard is in excellent condition with just a slight convexity near the bridge. Speaking of the bridge, I think the saddle is backwards, but the string slots are cut for it to sit this way. An easy fix, if desired, but this '59 Gibby plays and sounds so good that you may just leave it as is. The tone from this 52-year old P-90 pickup is to die for, and the current action is setup nice and low with just a bit more thumbwheel room to go lower on the bass side. Both controls work smoothly. The original chipboard case is still solid and clean. It has a few small tears in it but all the latches work and the handle is good. The Gibson badge is still in place on the case pocket cover (which is still attached to the case!). The original hangtags indicate that this guitar was retailed for $159.95, and $14.50 for the case. Those were the days. Gibson introduced the thinline version, the "T", of their ES-125 model in 1956 and the cutaway version, the "C", in 1960. Originally these were considered student or beginner models because they were the introductory price point for Gibsons. There were also two pickup models, the "D", and George Thorogood made the ES-125TCD (or TDC) famous with his "Bad to the Bone" video. The factory order number (FON) for this guitar is S3302 5 and it is clearly ink-stamped up inside the treble f-hole. The model stamp is clearly visible inside the bass f-hole. The only one in the world. There is a high roller / high profile function in Memphis, Tn. each year called "The Blues Ball" to raise funds for various, usually musically related causes. In 1996 the Gibson guitar Co. donated an unfinished (not painted nor assembled) a ES-355 "Lucille" model instrument to the "Blues Ball Association" they in turn would have a local artist, in this case an accomplished wood carver to let there artistic juices flow as it were and to use this instrument as the pallet for there artistic talents. The instrument / piece of art was auctioned off at the "Blues Ball" gala party that year. This potentially fully functional instrument was never assembled into a completed instrument. I can only assume that the highest bidder was probably a banker or some other kind of professional, not a player nor did they care to invest the additional resources needed to make it into a completely functional instrument. There is know reason other then financial & expertise that it could not be fully functional. The neck is perfectly straight & the neck truss rod is fully functional thus capable of offsetting string tension. The instrument has no hardware or components of any kind. It does however have a ES-335 style hardshell case produced for similar "Epiphone" dimensional style guitars. This is truely a one of kind piece of art as well as potentially excellent instrument.

This guitar is a 2001 Gibson Limited Edition ES-135 Semi Acoustic with a body of laminated maple and a natural gloss finish. It has a 1959 style rounded maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. The pickups are 1957 humbuckers in gold with some minor pitting in line with their age. Also in gold are the Grover tuners, the Tune-o-matic bridge and the Trapeze tailpiece. The controls are 2 x volume, 2 x tone and a 3-way switch. The scale is 24 3/4 inch and the nut width is 1 11/16 inch. The case is brown and is the original Gibson hard case. Overall the guitar has been well looked after. It is in excellent condition and plays beautifully. Payment please by Paypal only and you can arrange to collect as soon as payment has cleared. 100% unplayed. These are hard to get. (especially one like this one) This one is finished in Vintage Sunburst. Pictures are a good representation of the beauty, and depth of the wood grain and finish. I have quite a few of these Gibson Hollowbodies available at the moment, so please check my other auctions. What makes this one special is that it has two zebra burstbuckers #1 & #2 factory installed and they are split-able with coil taps. Pretty cool feature. No issues at all. Never played, only taken out of the case to photograph. It comes with everything from the Gibson Custom Shop. Certificate, Gibson factory hard case and will ship in the original Gibson box. This is a brand new, not played Gibson 50th anniversary 1960 reissue ES-335 slim neck from the Custom Shop. All case candy and COA is included. What's better than the classic looks and tone of a vintage sunburst ES-335? An ES-335 with the fantastic playability that comes with a slim neck profile, and this pre-owned guitar is exactly that. Features on this 50th Anniversary ES-335 are a maple top, back and sides, a mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, 24-3/4" scale length, two '57 Classic humbuckers, individual volume and tone controls, an ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece, vintage-style double band tulip tuners, and nickel hardware. This is the second version of the 50th Anniversary ES-335, with a transitional period neck shape that came in between the chunkiness of the original ES-335s and the super-slim profile of the '60 ES-335. The result is a neck shape that hits the sweet spot right in the middle between not too chunky but not too slim. The guitar has accumulated some wear from being played, there is a ding on the back of the guitar under the strap pin, a scratch around the lower cutaway, and scattered surface marks around the body. We can't blame the anyone for having made these marks, because this guitar is an exceptional player, and you definitely don't want to put it back in its case once you pick it up. The action is set up nice and low with excellent string response and a crystal clear tone from the '57 Classic humbuckers. There weren't many of these instruments produced either, only 100 worldwide. This flamey 335 is ready for you to break it in as it hasn't ever really seen any playing time! That's right - it's from 1997 and somehow hasn't clocked more than a few years playing time yet. It plays like it's brand new - low even action, straight neck, great intonation, etc. The 335 is known for it's versatility and fullness of tone and that's just what you get here - huge sound for Jazz, Rock, Blues, R&B and Country. The semi hollow design helps push the sustain on thjis guitar into the upper atmosphere. If ever there was a guitar that can do it all, the ES-335 is the one. Item Details This Gibson ES-335 is finished in an incredible looking Transparent Cherry Red. The body and neck are bound and the guitar features nickel hardware. The neck profile is somewhere between a 50's and 60's style - it's not too fat, not too thin and should please most players. The neck has a rosewood fretboard. There is lots of flame on the top and back of this 335 too with some really great patterns in the grain - sure to impress everywhere it goes. There are two Gibson humbuckers putting out tons of a classic tone. This guitar was originally an award from Gibson at a "People's Choice" show - there is a commemorative gold plaque on the top of the guitar under the bridge ( see photos ). This can easily be removed by the new owner and small screw holes filled by a luthier for a nominal fee. Overall Condition This 1997 Gibson Custom Shop ES-335 is in excellent condition. It shows practically no signs of play wear whatsoever. There is some checking to the finish around the hardware - you have to look hard to see it - and neck heal. Everything works and sounds great.
