This is maybe the fastest guitar I've played in weeks ( and I play a lot of guitars ). PRS guitars always deliver great playability and excellent feel, but this one just happens to be that much faster than most. It must be the incredible setup it has right now - the action is pretty low but it's not low like you'd expect on a Jackson or a similar shred guitar. It's just as low as you can get it without it effecting the sustain and tone. Did I mention that it's fast? Because it's blindingly fast. The tone on this Artist 24 is exceptional as well. The neck position is fat and meaty and the lead position is just searing hot! The intonation is flawless and the trem arm plays like rich creamery butter. This guitar has speed in its DNA. Item Details The PRS Custom 24 is a hallmark of Paul Reed Smith's commitment to excellence and innovation. The Custom 24 is extremely versatile and always delivers impeccable tone and fearless playability. This Artist package features a AAA+ flame maple top finished in stunning Scarlet Red. The wide thin neck features an Indian Rosewood fretboard with abalone bird inlays. There is also an Indian Rosewood headstock overlay and phase II low mass locking tuners. The Vintage Bass and Vintage Treble pickups are really pumping out some screaming tones and the PRS tremolo bridge can handle anything you can dish out. Being an Artist package, this Custom 24 is top shelf all the way and brings with it a fitted deluxe PRS Artist series hard shell case. Overall Condition This PRS Custom 24 is in excellent condition. There is some minor buckle rash on the back and some finish scratches on the back of the neck that you will not feel when you're playing. The top looks great and the frets are excellent. Paul Reed Smith (PRS) Private Stock Custom 24 in Blue Green V12 finish 2011 My second “baby” also up for an EXTREMELY reluctant sale is my stunning PRS Private Stock Custom 24. This guitar is a 2011 Private stock and is in perfect condition. It even comes with the same box that it was shipped in from the PRS Factory. The guitar was bought from Mark at Guitars 4 U in October and due to unforeseen circumstances I am loathed to have to put both this and a modern eagle 1 (also on ebay) up for sale. The guitar itself is in absolutely A1 mint condition. The guitar has only been played by me when I picked it up and I can honestly say the tone is out of this world both on clean and overdriven. It is also the easiest guitar to pick up and play I have ever owned. The key features of this private stock are listed below. The headstock truss rod cover is a blue/green cover, I also have a Madagascar mahogany truss rod cover that is included in the auction so that a potential owner has the choice between the two. The action is impeccable, the neck is straight and smooth and the tone is all there - not one dead spot. Aside from being a stunning looking Anniversary model, this one's playability and versatility make this axe a serious Go-To guitar. Get ripping! Item Details First things first - this is a 20th Anniversary 10 Top. The Grey Black finish on this will stop you dead in your tracks. It has a rich flamey top with great book-matching. The natural masked binding around the top really makes the Grey Black finish pop and gives it phenomenal aesthetic appeal. Two PRS humbuckers with a 5 way knob give you access to a huge selection of tones. The Wide / Thin neck has a rosewood fretboard which is sporting the super cool Anniversary Diving Bird inlays. The PRS Tremolo bridge and Phase II Low Mass Locking Tuners are keeping everything on lock down for you so you can wail on the whammy without any reservations. There are a handful of small finish dings to the top. These are very hard to see unless you're really looking for them because of the dark finish. 2004 PRS Custom 24 Artist Pack. Cost £2600 new - £1000 saving on new price!!Highest production grade quilt maple top - better than the oft-lauded '10 top' spec. Beautiful, tight quilt, and not too in-your-face and 'bling' like some PRS woods and finishes can be, whilst having huge amounts of detail in the top. Quilt tops of this quality are much rarer than the tiger stripe flame tops and are getting more so - definitely less coming through on factory PRS's now from what i've seen. Translucent turquoise finish - the finish is applied all over, both front and back - very rare and in my humble opinion, much more 'sorted' and 'unified looking' than the usual 'loud front, plain wood back' PRS finishes. It all hangs together, and the turquoise neck in particular looks great in the hand - a bit more special than the usual natural finish mahogany neck. Due to the different colours of the woods, the finish over the mahogany back and neck looks slightly darker and bluer than over the paler maple top, which looks blue to green dependent on lighting - it never looks the same way twice on stage! Exceptional rosewood fingerboard (possibly brazilian, given the striking, streaky cosmetics, and this would be consistent with the age/spec of the guitar, but I have no confirmation of this). Paua shell bird inlays (highest grade, again). Matching rosewood headstock veneer with Paua signature - only the Artist Pack gets that - looks amazing. Wide-thin neck carve - i normally go for a chunkier neck, but actually much prefer this neck to the 'wide-fat' PRS neck (only available on the CU22 anyway) which feels less refined. I had a McCarty with the wide-fat neck, and it just didn't feel 'right' in the end, the overall proportions aren't quite as good.PRS's 5-way rotary pickup switching system, that is a little more versatile and accesses some more characterful voices than a 3-way pickup switch. Some great 'Strat-y, middle-position voices. The HFS pickups are well matched to the guitar - super-versatile and distinctive throaty tone when driven hard. Not silly-high gain, just lots of juice on tap, without ever overpowering the sound of the instrument. More open-sounding than the Custom 22, which makes for much clearer and more versatile clean tones. Makes for the ultimate 'just take the one guitar' instrument.PRS hard case and all tags and vibrato arm included, and 'BMW leather' premium PRS strap - was £30 new, and really comfortable. Built in 2004 but purchased from World Guitars (high end PRS dealer) in May 2007, and the guitar was in *absolutely* mint, unplayed condition when i viewed it - i don't think it had ever been out of the case except for photographing, and the condition was ridiculous - i don't know how they even got it out of the factory in that condition - not so much as a single polish-swirl mark or speck of dust on it - no sign of any human hand ever touching it! At this time World Guitars did not have a shop but dealt from well-to-do domestic premises with a web-based store only - so all their guitars were kept in storage in their cases - not on display in a shop. So in terms of its 'working' age, it really started its life in May 2007. The only things that mark this as an older instrument from that date are the serial number and the single side marker dot at the 12th fret, something that all PRS's used to have - they finally relented and changed to a standard double dot in 2005. I have very high-res pro photos as taken by World Guitars, and can supply these on request - they provide a better indication of the finish than my amateur efforts might. In terms of condition - the guitar has a couple of very small finish marks on the back, where it caught the bridge of my Les Paul sitting behind it when lifting from the rack one night on stage. These are very small finish marks made a bit more obvious by the dark finish. They could be easily and cheaply touched in if they bother you, but i've not had time to get this done. The guitar has also had two other very minor cosmetic touch-ups (done professionally by Waghorn Guitars, a luthier in Bristol - but literally a £20 quick overnight job!) to remove obvious signs of two previous tiny dings - one on the back of the neck, one on the top, directly above the bridge, underneath usual right-hand resting position. Both are now invisible to all but the closest of inspections, and the newer tiny dings could be given the same treatment. The gold finish on the bridge and tremolo arm is starting to wear very slightly around the edges (the chrome undercoat gets exposed over time), but this is normal for PRS's, and consistent with the age and light use. All electrics working as they should - pots are (very) smooth and free turning.Fast, slick player, as you would expect. Rock solid tuning (graph-tec self-lubricating nut is a key factor i think), and vibrato stability is superb. Currently fitted with '11' gauge strings, but feels like '10's on any other guitar - i like 11s on a PRS for that reason - 10s feel a bit slack due to the almost-too-easy playability of PRS guitars!The guitar has been played, respectfully, and much loved, not hidden away in a bank vault. So its no longer 'immaculate' in the way that an unplayed 'collectors' guitar would be - it has the ultra-fine polish swirls of a well-polished instrument, and a little metal tarnishing (all PRSs tarnish up quite quickly once you actually play them...). But its in tip-top 'player's' condition - I am a working musician and do actually use my guitars to earn their keep, so it has been played live a few times (only for the prestige gigs, not down the Dog and Duck...), and come out more often in the studio, where it has excelled. But i'd say it has had rather 'light use' overall, and no sign of any fret-wear. I own (and use!) 10 guitars now, so the amount of use really does reflect that - I've only got one pair of hands after all, and play a Strat and Tele as my main gigging go-to instruments (dictated by styles of music, and necessary stage image). It's largely for this reason i'm selling - I own too many guitars now, and some others are fitting me and my various projects better these days. That says nothing about the quality of this guitar - its absolutely top notch, and i let her go with a really heavy heart. If I could justify keeping it I would, but i'm having a severe cull, and being hard on myself....Asking price is £1580, which is a superb deal in the hope of a quick, no nonsense sale! Over £1000 saving on the new price, and if you bought this used via a dealer, you could expect to pay around £2000 for a similar spec/age (as one or two are currently advertised). But, you won't be able to buy one like this from a dealer either - I have NEVER seen another Custom 24 in this finish. It's a really rare one, and for my money, one of the best looking factory PRS's i've ever seen (one of the reasons i bought it in the first place - it jumped out immediately!). Will be re-strung with D'addario strings (11-gauge unless you want something smaller, but if you play a lot, i really recommend trying the 11's first...) and polished/oiled before dispatch. Viewings/demos welcome by arrangement. But please don't hit the button unless you intend to buy it. I MAY accept a European buyer, but you MUST contact me first for pre-authorisation and a shipping quote (it won't be cheap).
